“It isn’t the end of the world, but I thought it was for a while.”
– David Ritchie
David’s Story:
David was a keen runner, completing nine marathons and he worked in a role that saw him travelling the world. Then, in October 2019 David took on the biggest challenge he had faced so far after receiving a stage 3 Bladder Cancer diagnosis.

Amidst the peak of the pandemic David began treatment. No visitors. No contact with anyone.
David felt alone.
Beginning with chemotherapy and ending with surgery, David’s new normal was living with a urostomy bag.
“How do you live with that?” was David’s initial thought. However, with support from his wife and children, the road to recovery felt a lot less treacherous.
“Having all the family around me was wonderful and helped me get back on my feet.”
